Job Opportunity

• Lead the overall operation of Norwegian Business Council’s administration, ensuring alignment with its mission and objectives.

• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define and execute the strategic vision of the council.

• Drive business development, partnership initiatives, and promotion of the council’s services.

• Identify growth opportunities and foster strong relationship with key stakeholders, including members, businesses, Team Norway, and government entities

• Ensure effective governance, including compliance with local laws and regulations.

• The General Manager will be responsible for a range of tasks that can be categorized, but not limited to, as follows:

Operational Management

Oversee day to day operations of the council, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of all activities and services.

 

Member Relations and Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing members, encouraging participation in councils activities and events.

 

Organize and oversee networking events, conferences, seminars, and workshops to provide value to members. Assist with annual events such as the Golf Tournament,  Annual General Meeting, 17th May Dinner and the Christmas Dinner.

 

Promote the interests of Norwegian businesses in the region and ensure members' voices are heard.

Marketing and Communication

Oversee the development and execution of communication strategies to enhance the council’s visibility and reputation in the UAE and internationally.

​

Manage social media platforms, website content, and marketing campaigns to promote council events, services, and news.

 

Financial Management

Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve organizational goals.

 

Oversee financial reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.

 

Pursue new revenue streams and fundraising opportunities to support the council's financial health.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Management, or a related field.

 

Experience: At least 5 plus years experience, ideally in a non-profit or membership-based organization. Strong understanding of business culture, networking, and operations within Dubai and the UAE, especially in the context of international business relations.

 

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Norwegian (preferred).

 

Cultural Awareness: Ability to work in an international environment, with sensitivity to diverse cultures, languages, and business practices.

 

Other Requirements:

Strong networking and relationship-building skills.

 

Proficient in using office software and digital communication tools.

 

Ability to present the organization at events, conferences, and in public speaking engagements.

 

Work Environment

Dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with senior business leaders, government officials and international professionals.

 

Occasional travel and after-hours events may be required.

 

The role is suitable for someone with strong business development and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that Norwegian businesses face in the UAE and the wider Middle East region.

 

 

Other conditions

The successful candidate will have a work visa or be able to hold a small part-time job on

his/her current visa.

The role assists and reports to the president of the board.
